Healing Growth

Learn to succeed in a whole new way.

Healing Growth is a counter-cultural approach to success that honors your body, partners with your nervous system, trusts your inner wisdom, and supports your ongoing healing.

It is holistic, trauma-informed, and works for the able-bodied and chronically ill alike

You don’t have to choose between healing and succeeding. With the Healing Growth Approach you can heal your past while you create your future.

A Different Way

Traditional models of success teach us us to suck it up, dig deep, push through, be consistent no matter what, and succeed at all costs.

You may achieve short term success with that approach, but it isn’t sustainable long-term. Most people who pursue success this way end up burnt out or with a chronic health condition (or worse).

But what if you could do it differently?

What if success didn’t equal chronic stress and burn-out?
What if you could bring healing principles to the pursuit of success?

Hi. I’m Lorrie.

I spent 5 years bedbound and using a wheelchair to get around due to debilitating chronic illness and pain.

I spent over a decade being disabled. At one point I had 15+ conditions and took medication 10x/day. I’ve got trauma and abuse in my past leading to a dysregulated nervous system. My brain came to believe pretty much everything in my world was unsafe.

While I’m still not the world’s healthiest human, these days I’m doing pretty dang good if I do say so myself. I have good energy, can think clearly, and can even jog most days.

But I started my business (and grew it to 6 figures), wrote and published a book, and more WHILE I was still disabled.

How? Well, in a nutshell, I broke all the “rules” of success. Like, all of them.

I tried it all and it didn’t work for me, so, after a lot frustration, I forged my own path to success. One that was paved with compassion and that helped me heal rather than hindering my progress.

A Better Way

When I looked at teachings and plans related to healing and inner healing, everything was permeated with a general sense of peacefulness. It was all about self-love, self-care, listening to your body, being gentle with yourself, rest, nourishing the body/mind/soul/spirit, nature baths, connection to nature, joy and play. It feels good. It honors the body. It acknowledges emotions and creates space to cry and be human.

The other main camp of teachings I see are related to personal growth and development. Most of what I have traditionally seen in this camp is hustle and harshness: create a schedule and stick to it, create a morning routine that involves getting up at 5am no matter what, be consistent, set goals and achieve them no matter the cost, dig deep, push through, suck it up, drop the bullshit, and get it together already!

Healing growth for those of us who don’t fit neatly into either category. We need ongoing healing, but we also want to succeed. But we know we can’t succeed that way.

Most of us have spent time in the healing camp. We had to due to chronic illness, chronic pain, extreme burnout, trauma, mental health issues, and more. And our time there was good. It was helpful. But it often takes a long time to get all the way through that work it. It’s a lot of walking things out in real time. It’s a lot of layers. And while we’re not 100% there, we’re kind of done with this being the sole focus of our existence. And, honestly, there comes a point when ONLY focusing on your healing begins to do more harm than good.

We would like to go do some stuff, thank you. We want to live. We want to make a contribution in the world, pursue our dreams, make some money, get in shape, etc.

The problem is, the second we go to the personal development world to start looking for advice for how to write that book, start that business, set and achieve those goals… we realize that following that advice would undo all the healing work we just did and land us right back where we were before.

I want to tell you that there is a different way.

You don’t have to choose between healing and pursuing your dreams. You can do both.

If you have past trauma, you have to factor in ongoing inner work to any plan, but you can do that.

If you want to reach the end without wrecking your wellbeing, you have to partner with your body and your nervous system, but you can do that.

It is possible, but you have to be willing to step outside of conventional wisdom and approach this whole success thing differently.

The healing growth approach outright rejects hustle culture. It refused to dig deep and push through. It’s an approach to getting where you're going in a way that continues and reinforces the healing work you’ve been doing. It applies healing principles to personal development work in a whole new paradigm.

At some point in your journey you are going to have to walk out your healing in real life situations.

Might as well achieve your dreams along the way.
